As a small kitten, Jem was very pretty.  She did not appear to have any particularly outstanding qualities. She followed me everywhere, and made it clear that I was her special person. I would have found it very difficult to part with her  and in any case she was the only silver girl in the litter,  since it was my intention to concentrate on breeding Silver Shadeds.  


By the time she was four months old, she began to look quite promising.  Her Show career began  at The Oriental Cat Association Show in June 1995, when she was five months old, when to my surprise and delight, she went Best Exhibit in Show.

After the Oriental Shadeds gained Championship status in June 1997, Jem was the first Shaded cat to become a Champion, Grand Champion and then UK Grand Champion.  She was also Best of Variety Oriental Adult at the GCCF Supreme Show in 1997 and 1999,  you can see pictures of her at these Shows by clicking on the links to both of these Shows in her list of successes below:-

In between going out to Shows, Jem has given birth to six litters of kittens, and as such, was always a perfect Mum.  She has now retired from competition, but may  be seen on exhibition at the occasional Show.
